The Food Bank of
Lincoln, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1982 with the help
of a number of concerned local citizens to help gather and distribute
food to hungry people in southeast Nebraska. The Food Bank is operated
by a dedicated staff, and governed by
a Board of Directors made up of
committed community leaders.

What We Do…..
The Food Bank gathers stores and redistributes surplus food, which comes
from wholesalers, retailers, corporations, restaurants, civic, church and school
groups, and individuals throughout our area. These donations are
distributed to over 180 non-profit programs in 16 Southeastern Nebraska
counties.

How You Can Help…..
The Food Bank relies on the help of many volunteers to make our work
possible. In fact, 1,442 volunteers contributed 12,760 hours during 2006!
That’s equivalent to over 6 full-time employees.
There are many ways you can directly have an effect on the hunger
problem in Nebraska communities. A few of these are:
- Sort, weigh and record
incoming donations
- Stock the shelves in
our distribution room
- Work at special
promotions and events
- Assist with mailings
- Pick up food during
food drive
These are very general descriptions of
volunteer opportunities. Please look at our
Volunteer Interest Form for more details on how you can become
involved in our battle against hunger.
