Extra Mile Walk
Help by Donating
Employees of Lincoln Public Schools once again joined forces with the Food Bank of Lincoln to host
the 10th annual BackPack Extra Mile Walk on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at East High School. Event festivities will begin at approximately 9 a.m. in the school gym and the Walk will commence promptly at 10 a.m.
The Backpack Extra Mile Walk is a wonderful way to promote physical activity in a fun family environment while raising money for a worthy program.
Kids are the most important and valuable asset we have, and the BackPack program provides weekly food-filled backpacks to families in need.
The BackPack Extra Mile Walk helps raise funds for LPS children, helping our families meet a basic need: Food. During the week, students on free and
reduced lunch are provided nutritious breakfasts and lunches at school, but a weekend can be a long time to go without food. By participating in the
walk, you are taking the first step toward fighting hunger in our community. Participants show they support the children of Lincoln and are dedicated
to making a difference in their wellbeing.
This is the 10th year for LPS to host this important community service project, and we hope we can do even better. Last year walkers and supporters
raised more than $152,000 for our community's children.
Overall, the event has raised more than $1.3 million.
Let's make a difference in providing more backpacks for hungry children. Let's go the "extra mile" in addressing hunger in our community.
More than $188,000 was raised to help feed hungry children in Lincoln. That brings our 10-year total to more than $1.5 million.
