How to Hold a Food Drive

IF YOUR HOUSEHOLD NEEDS IT, OUR AGENCIES NEED IT.

HOW TO HAVE A SUCCESSFUL FOOD DRIVE!

Organize:

• Set a date for the drive.
• Decide on a theme, type of drive and the duration.
• Select dependable drive leaders.
• Confirm dates.
Publicize:
• Set a goal for your drive
• Create a slogan that relates to your company or school.
• Send out the suggested food list provided by the Food Bank.
Put your idea into action:
• Distribute materials
• Put up posters where people can see them.
• Have food barrels available for donations (provided by Food Bank)
• Use your office resources for communication i.e. Email, fax, announcements.
Drive:
• Hold an event and ask people to bring cans of food.
• Give empty sacks to students or employees to fill up.
• Get your company to match donations.
• Neighborhood food drives.
• Monetary donations are accepted by the Food Bank.
• Decorate a giving tree with suggested food and cash donations.
• Raffle or auction.
