25th Annual Check Out Hunger and Holiday Food Drive
November 1, 2019 - December 31, 2019
Check Out Hunger & Holiday Food Drive
Currently in Southeast Nebraska 57,960 neighbors, including 18,740 children, experience food insecurity. Our annual Check Out Hunger and Holiday Food Drive help hungry Nebraskans have happier holidays. And you will, too, when you make a convenient donation at one of the participating stores.
Here’s how it works. When you shop at a participating store, look for COH coupons in $1, $5 and $10 denominations at checkout stands. Tear off a coupon in the amount you want to donate, and hand it to the cashier. The cashier swipes the coupon’s barcode and the corresponding amount will be added to your grocery bill.
Or you can simply purchase one of the pre-packed grocery bags along with your groceries, and deposit it in the blue barrel as you leave the store. Our army of Holiday Food Drive Volunteers will deliver those donations to the Food Bank of Lincoln to be distributed.
For every $1 donated at the checkout, we can provide approximately 3 meals. This is a win-win-win promotion: you can easily make a donation to help families in need (win!); participating retailers make sales (win!), and the Food Bank is able to gather some of its most-needed items for distribution to clients through partner agencies and mobile food distributions (win!).
Combined, Check Out Hunger and Holiday Food Drive resulted in approximately 208,872 meals during the 2018 holiday season. Thank you for making the holidays happier for hungry Nebraskans of all ages, veterans and people with disabilities who live in our service area.
